Sneezing watery eyes and the uncontrollable mucus down your nose ,

flu can be a very irritating and to me is the worst ailment I could have so what are  my options to help either prevent or cure them.

You cannot always have the flu shot to prevent you from the symptoms of flu; there is a list of foods that when taken as part of your regular diet can actually help you prevent the flu symptoms.


Mushrooms contain selenium which helps in the production of white blood cells which are important in fighting against any infection. They also are rich in beta glucans an anti-microbial sugar that helps ward off infections. You can easily include in your daily diet by putting them in soups, pasta and make a great pizza topping.


2-Sweet Potato

We all love eating sweet potatoes well that happens to be a good thing they not only have many health benefits they are also helpful in preventing flus. Sweet potatoes are rich in beta carotene which when enters the body is converted to vitamin A, which protects your body against infections. Sweet potatoes can be added to your soups or salads or baked.


3-Green Tea

Green tea has many health benefits it has great anti-oxidant properties which help protect against infections. A hot cup of green tea can sooth your throat and also prevent you against flu symptoms.


4- Almonds

Almonds have thought to improve your brain function and also are rich in vitamin E which helps in protecting the body against infection. Almonds are a great snack and are equally delicious when added to salads pastas or cakes.



Bananas are rich in vitamin B6, which help increasing the ability of the body to fight against infections. They are light on the stomach and their antibiotic ability makes them a great choice if you are hit by stomach flu. They are also rich in potassium and bone strengthening magnesium, and also the best source of energy.



6-Whole Grains

Whole grains are rich in zinc, calcium, iron and fiber which are essential for a healthy body. Eating whole grain pasta, whole grain bread and whole grain rice are a delicious way to fight off the nasty flu symptoms.
